The third installment features a portrait of a beautiful woman that heralds the arrival of autumn.
In Japanese poems the autumn breeze is referred to as the kinpū (“golden wind”)as a seasonal word, evoking images of golden rice ears ready for harvest. The breeze peculiar to this season occasionally blows, ripples across the surface of rivers and calls to mind the sounds of autumn insects between the gently swaying grasses. The gesture of warming her fingers in the bosom of the kimono evokes the season change. A dragonfly soars high into the sky and golden susuki (pampas grass) rustles with the breeze, which even is reminiscent of the fruitful autumn. With this piece, we hope to share the refinement and elegance of Japanese seasonal expression, while also offering it as a symbol of good fortune.
