The final piece in this series, which ambitiously seeks to capture both shunka-shūtō (the four seasons) and kachō-fūgetsu (the beauties of nature), portrays a scene at the end of the year.
Set against the backdrop of a winter crescent moon that is a seasonal word for winter, it features a beautiful woman wearing an okosozukin (a traditional hood), evoking the bitter cold outside in this season.Yet even in the harshness of the season, she enjoys dressed stylishly in layers of kimono and carries a kumade (a decorative rake believed to bring good fortune), which contains her hopes and wishes. This is the scene at the festival praying for business prosperity, and the expression of this Ukiyoe beauty reflects the unique Japanese aesthetic sensibility.
